Three appointments to NI judicial body

Three commissioners have been appointed to the Northern Ireland Judicial Appointments Commission (NIJAC), the independent body responsible for appointing members of the judiciary in the North.

Britain’s Lord Chancellor Dominic Raab has named Mr Justice Humphreys to replace Mr Justice Horner as the High Court Judicial Commissioner.

The appointment is for a five-year term, from 14 March 2023 to 13 March 2028.

Two more members will represent the legal profession on the commission.

Solicitor reappointed

Solicitor Michael Robinson, nominated by the Law Society of Northern Ireland, has been reappointed, while Bernard Brady KC, nominated by the Bar of Northern Ireland, has been appointed.

Both will serve a four-year term, from 14 March 2023 to 13 March 2027.

The commission comprises a chair, who is the Lady Chief Justice, and 12 other members.
