Sinéad Corcoran appointed to Medical Council

Solicitor Sinéad Corcoran (small picture) has been appointed to the Medical Council for a five-year term.

She was one of a number of appointments and re-appointments to the body announced today (6 June) by Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly.

Corcoran qualified as a solicitor with McCann FitzGerald LLP, and was subsequently a partner with RDJ LLP.

Findlater Scholarship

In February 2020, she joined private hospital group Bon Secours Health System as its chief legal, corporate and external affairs officer and company secretary, having acted as its lead external adviser for almost a decade.

A recipient of the Law Society of Ireland’s Findlater Scholarship, Corcoran is qualified to practise in Ireland, and in England and Wales.

Her appointment to the Medical Council runs from 1 June 2023 to 31 May 2028.

Solicitor John Gleeson has also been re-appointed to the council until 31 May 2026.

Until his retirement from professional practice in 2018, he was a partner and head of the healthcare team in at Mason Hayes and Curran, specialising in medical law and medical-defence litigation.
