Book now for Law Society family-law conference in July

The Law Society’s Family Law Conference 2023 will take place on 14 July, with speakers including pre-eminent family-law experts.

The conference will consider the proposed legislation to reform Ireland’s family law and justice system. Key elements of the Family Courts Bill include the development of specialist family courts, and the lessons to be learned from international best practice.

Speakers

The keynote address will be delivered by Sir Andrew McFarlane (President of the Family Division of England and Wales) on the topic of ‘Developing a family-law jurisdiction – the experience in England and Wales’.

Other speakers will include:

  • Mrs Justice Lucy Theis (Judge of the Family Division of England and Wales) – ‘The role of experts in family law’,
  • Judge Rachel Hudson (Senior Circuit Court judge) – ‘Jurisdiction and allocation of cases’,
  • Lord Justice Peter Jackson (Judge of the Court of Appeal of England and Wales) – ‘Hearing the voice of the child’.

Law Society members are invited to register and early booking is advised.
