Soroptimist International is a worldwide organisation with 72,000 members in 122 countries, and is a global voice for women.

The convention theme is ‘Challenge the Future’, and the event will bring together speakers from all five of SI federations including:

  • Soroptimist International Africa Federation,
  • Soroptimist International of the Americas,
  • Soroptimist International of Europe,
  • Soroptimist International of Great Britain & Ireland, and
  • Soroptimist International of the South West Pacific.

The programme  will also consist of seminars, workshops, round-table discussion and poster sessions.

Guest speakers include Professor Mary Robinson (former President of Ireland) and Roderic O’Gorman (Minister for Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth).

A welcome reception will take place at the Law Society on Sunday evening, 23 July.

Bar Council chair Sara Phelan SC will address the launch, and a representative of the Law Society will give a short presentation on celebrating 100 years of women in the profession

Solicitor Eadaoin Lawlor, who recently represented SI Ireland at the UN with Irish member Sarah Giblin, will also address the gathering, as well as international president Maureen Maguire.

Music will be provided by traditional musicians Session Sisters.
