The former Director of Regulation and Registrar of Solicitors at the Law Society of Ireland is to chair the appeals board of the Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland.
John Elliot (pictured) retired from his roles at the Law Society last year.
He has been appointed to the new post by the Minister for Housing Darragh O’Brien.
Under the Building Control Act 2007, the chair of the appeals board must be a solicitor or barrister, or a former judge of the Supreme Court, High Court or Circuit Court.
The appeals board hears appeals against decisions taken by the SCSI boards that govern admission, technical assessment, and professional conduct.
