Hourly earnings up by 5.1% in Q2 to €28.07

Average weekly earnings in Ireland were €909.77 in Q2 2023, an increase of 4.3% from €871.93 in Q2 2022, CSO statistics show.

Average hourly earnings rose by 5.1% to €28.07 in Q2 2023, from €26.72 in Q2 2022.

Average weekly paid hours were 32.4 in Q2 2023, down by 0.6% from the Q2 2022 value of 32.6.

The job vacancy rate at the end of Q2 2023 was 1.3%, lower than the 1.6% recorded at the end of Q2 2022 and slightly down from 1.4% at the end of Q1 2023.

Average hourly other labour costs grew by 11.6% to €4.71 in Q2 2023, from €4.22 in Q2 2022.

The highest averages for hourly total labour costs in Q2 2023 were €51.53 in information and communication, and €48.19 in financial, insurance and real estate activities.

The lowest averages for hourly total labour costs in Q2 2023 were €17.58 in accommodation and food service activities, and €24.02 in arts, entertainment, recreation and other services.

The public administration and defence sector had the highest job vacancy rate at 3.4% in Q2, followed by 2.5% in the financial, insurance and real estate activities sector.
