Eversheds Sutherland advises on education deal

Global law firm Eversheds Sutherland has advised Dukes Education Group on its purchase of the Dublin-based Institute of Education.

The transaction, for an undisclosed amount, is Dukes Education Group’s first acquisition in the Irish market.

Dukes is an international group of schools, colleges, and nurseries established by entrepreneur Aatif Hassa in 2015.

Significant deal

The Institute of Education is one of the largest private secondary schools in Ireland, teaching fourth-year, fifth-year and sixth-year pupils.

It was set up by the Kearns family, who decided to sell the business after the passing of Raymond Kearns last year.

“Whilst not without its challenges, this is a significant deal for our international client that marks their inaugural investment in Ireland,” said Eversheds Sutherland corporate partner Gavin O’Flaherty.
