Ulster University student takes A&O prize

An Ulster University post-graduate student has been awarded the Allen & Overy (A&O) trophy that recognises excellence in the field of librarianship and information management.

Oisin Cleere (pictured, centre), a senior library assistant with Kildare Library Service, is the tenth recipient of the trophy since the awards began in 2013.

He received top marks in the Library and Information Management post-graduate diploma, a two-year part-time programme that enhances the skills of information professionals.

Value

Global law firm A&O supports the post-graduate diploma, which is delivered by Ulster University in association with the Chartered Institute for Library and Information Professionals (CILIP).

Sarah Fahy (global head of A&O research and library) said that the firm had invested in professional training in the area as it recognised the role and value that library and information managers brought to an organisation.

Allen & Overy’s Belfast office opened in 2011, and now employs more than 700 people.
