Remote courts VMR update for practitioners

Circuit and District Courts are to continue with the VMR codes which are currently in use, as part of a user simplification process.

Practitioners may continue to access the VMR codes from the members’  areas, when the Legal Diary or the office-issued court list indicates a remote or hybrid format.

A request to appear remotely must be made to the presiding judge prior to the court date, by emailing the court office.

In  the High Court, judges’ individual codes will continue to be effective until the end of September 2022, with the exception of those judges who use Pexip Infinity.

VMR codes will be available from the Bar Council and Law Society websites.

No change anticipated

Lists that have been proceeding remotely will continue to be dealt with remotely, and no change to this is currently anticipated.

For hearings, practitioners should be in a position to indicate whether a matter should proceed physically, remotely, or on a hybrid basis at call-overs.

This application is subject to the decision of the list judge

More general information is available on the Courts Service website.
