The Legal Aid Board (LAB) is seeking applications from solicitors in private practice with experience in the area of international protection to join its international protection solicitors panel, from this month.
The LAB is one of the largest providers of services to asylum seekers in Ireland with three law centres in Dublin (Smithfield), Cork (Popes Quay) and Galway (Seville House) and its International Protection Solicitors Panel.
The panel covers legal assistance to asylum seekers in making their applications for international protection and permission to remain in the State, including at questionnaire and interview stage, appeal to the International Protection Appeals Tribunal, and representation in relation to permission to remain.
The panel does not cover judicial review applications.
Induction training will be required and is held online, free of charge.
No minimum level of work is guaranteed and cases are referred directly to private practitioners by law centres in accordance with a rota.
The application form and the terms and conditions which include the fee structure, are available online.
