Ferriter lecture on Four Courts occupation
The next #FourCourts100 lecture to mark the Decade of Centenaries commemorations will be delivered by Professor Diarmaid Ferriter of UCD.
The event takes place in the Round Hall at Dublin’s Four Courts on Thursday (26 May) at 6.30pm.
Professor Ferriter’s lecture will look closely at the factors motivating those who occupied the Four Courts in 1922, the dilemma of their opponents, as well as the British government’s perspective on the Irish crisis that year.
Archival material
It will also discuss the manner in which historians have written about the Four Courts crisis and how newly-released archival material allows us to reflect on the short- and long-term consequences for both the occupants and those involved in removing them.
