Researchers seek lawyers who deal with separation

The organisers of research on the perspectives of professionals dealing with children and parents who are sharing parenting through separation have issued a call for lawyers to take part in a focus group.

One Family is Ireland’s national organisation for people parenting alone, sharing parenting, and separating.

One Family is backing TCD-UCC research on parenting in separated families.

The researchers are particularly keen to hear from legal professionals.

Taking part will involve being part of a focus group of between five and eight legal professionals in the week beginning 25 July.

Online

The focus group will last approximately 1.5 hours, and will take place online on MS Teams.

Members will be asked questions broadly related to the following areas:

  • The challenges for parents and children who are the focus of this study,
  • What parents find positive and/or challenging in the co-parenting experience, and the extent to which they are supported,
  • The extent to which the views of young children (0-6 years) are considered in contact arrangements/agreements,
  • The nature and scope of co-operation between legal and social professionals involved with those parents and children.

Anyone interested in taking part should email SGREGORY@tcd.ie indicating availability for that week.

The study is funded by the RTE Toy Show: Improving Wellbeing Strand.
