Defamation conference to focus on civil juries

Law Society Skillnet is to hold a conference on defamation in October, which will focus on the question of whether there is a right to a civil jury.

The event will take place on 13 October 2022, at Blackhall Place.

At the conference, defamation-law experts will review and discuss the 12 years since the Defamation Act 2009 came into force, and assess what defamation law might look like in the future.

Chair and speakers include:

  • Bernard Barton (retired Judge of the High Court),
  • Professor Neville Cox (Trinity College Dublin),
