ALG appoints Jill Shaw to senior ESG role

A&L Goodbody LLP (ALG) has appointed Jill Shaw to a new, senior position in the area of ESG (environmental, social and governance) and sustainability.

The firm says that, as ESG-and-sustainability lead, she will work with the partners in the division co-ordinate and support ALG's lawyers as they help clients navigate the rapidly changing landscape.

Shaw (pictured) has more than ten years' experience in financial services, particularly in asset management and investment funds.

She is also a lecturer on the Law Society's Diploma in Finance Law, and a member of the steering committee of the Green Team Network, a forum for supporting change towards a sustainable environment within the Irish funds industry.

Opportunities and challenges

The firm's ESG group comprises experts from areas spanning finance, renewable energy, climate action, corporate governance, environmental and planning, employment, and construction.

Laura Mulleady (partner and head of ESG & Sustainability at ALG) said that ESG-related opportunities and challenges were arising for businesses across all sectors.

“They are navigating rapidly developing legal and regulatory requirements, as well as changing stakeholder expectations,” she added.
