Power Law LLP has launched with the goal of offering legal services to SMEs, business owners and investors.

The firm will operate from offices in Galway and Dublin.

Corporate finance solicitor Andrew Power is managing partner, and will head the firm’s corporate, commercial and finance practices. 

Head of banking

He previously spent almost 14 years with LK Shields Solicitors (Dublin and Galway), most recently as head of the banking and finance department.

Cathal Hester, formerly of Matheson, and the Galway lead at LK Shields Solicitors, will head the real-estate and construction practices. Hester also has niche expertise in commercial landlord and tenant law.

Previously of A&L Goodbody and ByrneWallace, Eoin Mullowney will head Power Law’s dispute resolution, insolvency and restructuring practice.

Dispute resolution

The partners will be supported by consultants Michael Kavanagh and Ward McEllin, the former a dispute resolution and employment-law specialist; and the latter previously the longstanding principal at Patrick J McEllin & Son in Claremorris, Co Mayo.

Ward McEllin was a Council member of the Law Society for over 25 years, and served as President of the Law Society in 2001/02.

Andrew Power said that the firm’s low-overhead, flexible-working model would allow it to tailor services in an affordable manner.
