Matheson to give students taste of ESG practice

Matheson has launched a new environmental, social and governance (ESG) programme for students, which it says is the first of its kind to be established by an Irish law firm.

The virtual-experience programme will be hosted on the free, open-access platform Forage, and is aimed at helping aspiring solicitors to build their knowledge and understanding of the legal profession.

Matheson says that students will get a taste of life as a commercial lawyer in an ESG practice, with scenario-based training across a range of modules.

‘Real-life issues’

Once completed, participants receive a certificate, and they can include the programme on their CV.

The firm says that the programme will allow students to experience life at an international law firm by simulating daily tasks and interactions, all in the context of real-life issues in an ESG practice.

All tasks and instructions will be delivered by legal professionals at Matheson.
