The Law Society has announced details of the 2022 Justice Media Awards (JMAs). The awards recognise outstanding print and broadcast journalism that contributes to the public’s understanding of justice, the legal system and the legal issues of the day. The awards ceremony will take place on 22 June.
A brand-new category has been added this year for ‘environmental/climate justice reporting’ (all media). This category has been introduced to recognise the growing importance of media reporting on equality, human rights and climate change – specifically where these issues intersect with each other.
A standalone podcast category recognises the increasingly competitive trend and high quality of podcast entries, including the overall JMA winner in 2021, the Second Captains’ podcast series for BBC Sounds: ‘Where is George Gibney?‘
The Law Society is anticipating another highly competitive year of entries and is encouraging entries from journalists from diverse backgrounds, as well as entries covering topics relating to the law that increase representation for gender equality, diversity and inclusion issues in Ireland.
The deadline for entries is at 5pm on Wednesday 30 March. The full list of categories, entry forms and submission guidelines can be found at www.lawsociety.ie/JMA.
The Justice Media Awards have been in existence for over 30 years, and are the longest continuously-running media awards in Ireland.
