McCann FitzGerald takes two European awards

Irish law firm McCann FitzGerald LLP has won two awards at The Lawyer European Awards 2021.

The firm took the prizes for ‘Law Firm of the Year for Ireland’ and ‘European Litigation Team of the Year’ at a virtual ceremony held in London yesterday (1 December).

The awards are organised annually by The Lawyer, a leading legal publication.

This is the third time in six years that the firm has been recognised as overall winner in the ‘Law Firm of the Year for Ireland’ category in the awards.

Teamwork praised

The judges praised McCann FitzGerald for its “excellent display of teamwork”, together with “being able to adapt at pace”.

In the last year or so, the firm has worked on several high-profile Irish and international deals – including AerCap’s $30 billion acquisition of GECAS, and AIB’s purchase of Ulster Bank’s €4.2 billion corporate-and-commercial loan book.

It also played a key role in two of the four 'test cases' taken in the Irish courts that were linked to business-interruption insurance after the outbreak of COVID-19.

McCann FitzGerald’s managing partner Barry Devereux (pictured) said that the awards were testament to “the very high quality and unstinting commitment of our people”.
