DLA Piper has appointed Gavin Smith as a partner in the firm’s finance, projects and restructuring (FP&R) group.
Smith will also lead the restructuring team, when he moves from Walkers Global, where he was head of insolvency, restructuring and dispute resolution.
He has significant experience in relation to Irish High Court, Commercial Court and Supreme Court proceedings, and other dispute-resolution mechanisms – such as arbitration and mediation.
Conor Houlihan (DLA Piper partner and head of FP&R in Ireland), said: “Being both local and global is particularly important in the restructuring sphere, as Ireland continues to grow as an international restructuring venue.”
The firm expects to announce further recruitment to Smith’s team, and the wider finance wider practice, “very soon”.
DLA Piper has grown its teams across all seven practice groups since opening its doors in 2019, and recently moved to a new premises at 40 Molesworth Street, Dublin 2.
