Hospitality guidelines on outdoor events updated

Fáilte Ireland has updated its guidelines on events and outdoor gatherings, after advice provided by the Attorney General (AG).

The AG had advised that the current public-health regulations provide for organised outdoor events and gatherings of up to 200 people.

The advice came after questions were raised about an outdoor event hosted by former minister Katherine Zappone (pictured) at a Dublin hotel last month. 50 people attended the event.

The guidelines have also been updated to allow for live music and other performances outdoors in hospitality settings.

Separately, the Government has said it will publish a road-map for the "easing or removal" of the remaining COVID-19 restrictions by the end of August.

Intermingling between tables not allowed

The advice for outdoor events recommends that venues have segmented areas to allow for smokers and non-smokers.

Fáilte Ireland also says that customers should wear face coverings when circulating around the outdoor dining and serving areas, and when using indoor facilities.

Customers at permitted outdoor events can be served from a food counter or buffet, but they cannot order drinks from a bar.

A maximum number of six people aged 13 or over is allowed at a table, though 15 are allowed when children aged 12 or under are included.

Physical distancing of one metre between those at a table must be in place, while intermingling between tables is not allowed.

Weddings, however, are still limited to 100 people.
