High Court vacation judge on duty for urgent cases
A High Court judge will be available every day throughout the courts' summer vacation to hear urgent applications, the Courts Service has confirmed.
All sittings before the vacation judge will take place Monday to Friday in the Four Courts (Court 1) at 11am, unless otherwise advised by the registrar.
The following categories of business will be heard as follows:
- The Wards of Court list will take place at 11am in Court 4, the Four Courts, on 11 and 25 August, and 8, 22, and 29 September. The duty judges are authorised to deal with urgent wardship business on all other dates,
- The Special Care List will take place at 11am in Court 3, the Four Courts, on 12 August, and 16 September,
- The Hague List will take place at 11am in Court 2, the Four Courts, on 23 August, and 29 September,
- There will be a Commercial Court motion list at 11am in Court 2, the Four Courts, on 31 August, and 7 and 21 September,
- There will be a Chancery motion list at 11 am in Court 3, the Four Courts, on 6, 7, 20, 21 September,
- The bail list will continue in the Criminal Courts of Justice (CCJ) each Tuesday and Thursday throughout August and September,
- The extradition list will take place in the CCJ on 5 and 20 August, and 6 and 23 September.
Other High Courts have made arrangements for hearings throughout September which will be advised to practitioners, and via the Legal Diary.

Criminal Courts of Justice
- The District Court will sit daily in the CCJ,
- The Circuit Criminal Court will be sitting every two weeks, on 11 and 25 August, and 8 and 22 September,
- The Circuit Criminal Court will be back sitting hearing trials on 20 September,
- The Central Criminal Court has one ongoing trial which will go through August,
- The Central Criminal Court will be back hearing trials on 13 September,
- The Special Criminal Court has a trial ongoing into August.
