CPD points available for immigration law training

The Immigrant Council of Ireland is holding a free online CPD session on providing legal assistance to trafficking victims, and to migrant domestic-violence victims.

The focus will primarily be on immigration law, but the session is open to any legal practitioner to attend.

It will also be of special relevance to practitioners of criminal law, family law and general practitioners. Registration is now open.

Date

The training session will take place via Zoom between 3.30pm and 5.30pm on Thursday, 22 July , and will qualify for two hours of CPD. 

The training will be run by Jennifer Okeke Campbell, anti-human-trafficking officer with the Immigrant Council of Ireland, and Mary Henderson, solicitor with the independent law centre at the Immigrant Council of Ireland.

Jennifer Okeke Campbell will cover:

  • What is gender-based violence?
  • What is human trafficking?
  • What are the indicators of gender-based violence and human trafficking?
  • What supports are available to such individuals.

Mary Henderson will cover:

  • Residence permissions in Ireland,
  • Information on specific provisions for migrant victims of domestic violence,
  • Information on specific provisions for victims of human trafficking,
  • Information on support services available.
