Garda and PSNI hold joint checkpoint

Ahead of the bank holiday weekend, Gardaí are mounting checkpoints across the country as part of Operation Fanacht.

The force has also been holding a series of planned checkpoints near the border, including a joint cross-border operation at Muff, County Donegal, with the PSNI.

Journeys

Operation Fanacht was put in place earlier this week to prevent people travelling across the country in advance of the bank holiday.

Gardaí are reminding the public not to take any non-essential journeys, as the current COVID-19 guidelines and restrictions remain in place until at least 5 May.
