Charities’ support fund worth €40m announced

A €40-million package of financial supports for charities, community and voluntary organisations, and social enterprises will fill funding gaps caused by the coronavirus crisis.

A total of €35 million has been earmarked by the Minister for Rural and Community Development Michael Ring for qualifying organisations to top up income losses, while a €5-million tranche will pay for adaptive solutions to funding challenges.

Overheads

To qualify, organisations must exist since before 1 January 2019 and be providing front-line services in the Republic. The organisation must also have projected financial losses of at least one-quarter of income this year.

Funds awarded can be used to pay for overheads, but not for wages, and the sums will range from €2,000 to €100,000.

Applications are now open online.
