University College Cork hosts the 12th annual North-South Criminology conference on 2-3 September.
The theme is diversity and inclusion in criminological discourses.
The conference aim is to show how researchers can bridge the gap between theory and lived experience of relevant stakeholders, stressing the importance of voices which have traditionally been silenced or ignored.
Speakers include Garda Commissioner Drew Harris, Juliet Lyon of the British Independent Advisory Panel on Deaths in Custody, Senator Lynn Ruane and Professor Shadd Maruna of Queen’s University, Belfast.
Representatives of criminal justice NGOs, prison governors, senior academics, community group representatives, senior gardai and minority group representatives will also be speaking.
The venue is the Western Gateway building with dinner scheduled at the Kingsley hotel.
