RNLI appoints solicitor Katie Cadden to its council
The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) has appointed solicitor Katie Cadden to its council for Ireland.
Katie has also been nominated to the British RNLI council for the charity that saves lives at sea.
Council members advise the Trustee Board on broad policy and strategic issues.
A former practising solicitor, Katie has worked with various charities and other voluntary organisations. With substantial court and litigation experience, Katie has a keen interest in public law, charity law and corporate governance.
Oversight
In April 2014, she was appointed by Justice minister Charlie Flanagan to the board of the Charities Regulator – Ireland’s first statutory oversight body for the sector.
She was appointed to serve a second term in October 2018. Katie currently chairs the regulatory committee, which oversees the effectiveness and controls around the delivery of registration, reporting and other regulatory functions.
Katie regularly lectures in charity law for the Diploma Centre at the Law Society and has delivered seminars at the School of Law at NUI Galway.
