Airport eGates integrate with  terror watch lists

Justice minister Charlie Flanagan will officially open the new eGates for passport control in Terminal 1 of Dublin Airport on Saturday, ahead of the busy summer holiday period.

The eGates are up and running in Terminal 1 and will shortly be operational in Terminal 2.

eGates were first used in Dublin Airport in November 2017. They provide highly secure automated passport validation and security checks on passengers, by using advanced facial recognition technology and integrating with national and international watch lists.

Flatbed scanners

The new eGates feature flatbed scanners and will increase speed and ease of use for passengers. The new passport card can also be swiped at eGates.

The Border Management Unit of the Department of Justice and Equality, who operate passport control at Dublin Airport, will be part of the launch with Minister Flanagan.
