Leading insurance risk and commercial law specialist BLM is expanding its Dublin office and recruiting 10 lawyers and support staff.

The Dublin office is led by partner Gavin Campbell (pictured) who said “With the expertise provided by 13 offices across Ireland and the UK, coupled with the local knowledge of regional teams, we’re confident the markets we serve are providing sustainable opportunities and demand for our services to continue to grow.”

BLM is an award-winning firm for defendant insurance litigation in both the private and public sectors. The firm is also a founder member of international network, Global Insurance Law Connect.

BLM developed an all-Ireland capacity in 2014 when it combined with long-standing firm Campbell Fitzpatrick Solicitors and now has offices in Dublin, Belfast and Derry.

Fraud

The firm’s Ireland team specialises in cases dealing with insurance fraud, catastrophic injury, health and safety, employers’ and public liability, motor, product liability and professional and medical negligence.

BLM employs 110 people in Ireland, growing to 120 by year-end.

Matthew Harrington, senior partner at BLM said "Our increasing presence across the island of Ireland will further support us as we service insurance businesses that may relocate to Ireland in order to retain an EU-presence after Brexit.

“Evidence of this likely trend has already started showing with announcements from some of the UK’s leading organisations that they are relocating or expanding their Irish presence.

“Concern over the inability to represent EU clients has resulted in nearly 2,000 UK solicitors having already registered in Ireland since the 2016 referendum and we predict this to continue as firms move to maintain a tangible presence in the EU.”

BLM’s insurance customers include 15 of the top 20 UK insurers, along with leading brokers, managing general agents, loss adjusters and other intermediaries.
