At the Callan Tansey medical negligence seminar at Markree Castle on 20 September 2018, Sligo practitioners heard that the introduction of “super communicators” to the fraught area of medical negligence has effected a drop in claims in the US.

At a session on the duty of candour towards the injured party, the audience heard that once a mistake is made by a doctor, the issue is then handled by a “super communicator” who is better at explaining what went wrong.

Meanwhile, Sligo's lawyers will be shaking a leg at Markree Castle (pictured above) to celebrate Christmas this year.

Ahead of that, there is a cluster event on 18 and 19 of October 2018 in Castlebar, Co Mayo.

"The general consensus is that the cluster events form the backbone of our CPD on an annual basis and the [outstanding] balance of points can be obtained from various free sessions," says bar association chair Michael Monahan.

"Cluster events are also a great opportunity to meet colleagues from adjoining counties," he said, urging those colleagues who did not attend any cluster event earlier in the year to attend.  

Outstanding CPD points can also be claimed locally with two upcoming one-hour sessions on GDPR and bank repossessions given by Donnacha Anhold.

Meanwhile, congratulations to Chris Callan who has been conferred with a Diploma in Professional Regulation from UCD.
