McCann FitzGerald has been named as the most innovative Irish law firm, thanks to a series of cutting-edge, legal-tech adoptions.

The Financial Times Innovative Lawyer Awards 2018 gave the nod to the Dublin firm for an online GDPR gap-analysis compliance tool, the first of its kind in Ireland.

At the awards in London on 4 October 2018, the firm took away three honours.

As well as legal tech, McCann FitzGerald was chosen for its partnership with Women’s Aid, and the creation of a new people services division.

The partnership with Women’s Aid provides legal information and assistance clinics to support women experiencing domestic violence.

Impact

The project saw 40 of the firm’s solicitors train up in domestic violence law and family law. Managing partner Barry Devereux said at the awards that the firm wanted to have a positive impact on the communities where they work.

“This partnership with Women’s Aid shows how corporate law firms can use their skills and expertise for the benefit of some of the most vulnerable individuals in our society,” he said.

Separately, McCann FitzGerald was recognised for its work advising Greencoat Capital on the acquisition of two wind farms, and the subsequent listing of its operating company.

The FT Innovative Lawyer Awards, now in their 13^thyear, are one of the top legal awards in Europe.
