Facebook pivots to publishing print mag

Media giant Facebook is now publishing a quarterly business magazine called Grow, aimed at high-flying executives.

The magazine will be distributed at gold circle lounges in key airports worldwide.

The world’s biggest digital media platform has reached for a print product in order to enhance its credibility.

The magazine aims to “help business leaders keep ahead by creating and curating insightful content and experiences”, the media giant says.

Facebook has always maintained that it is an internet platform rather than a publisher, and has used this position to avoid taking editorial responsibility for content on its site.

The tech giant has drawn the ire of traditional publishers such as News UK’s Rupert Murdoch, for its handwashing on editorial responsibility.

However, in a significant pivot, the tech giant says that it realises that business leaders have limited time for long reads at work. In response, it has created a physical publication “with journeys in mind” to satisfy this unmet need.

The magazine’s print run, distribution, editorial staff and future plans, remain a closely guarded secret, however.
