DCU Fiontar publishes  electronic dictionary



Justice Minister Charlie Flanagan presented to incoming Chief Justice Frank Clarke the newly-published Irish language Rules of the Superior Courts 1986  at his Department’s headquarters on 27 July 2017.

The Department has now published the official Irish version of the 1986, 1997 and the 2001 consolidations of the Rules of the Superior Courts, the District Court Rules and the Circuit Court Rules and their amendments, including the Rules of the Superior Courts (Court of Appeal Act 2014).

Speaking as gaeilge at the launch, the Minister thanked the inter-disciplinary Fiontar  department of Scoil na Gaeilge at DCU which, with grant aid from the Department of the Gaeltacht, has published the information on their electronic dictionary www.tearma.ie

Minister Flanagan thanked Judge Clarke, who chairs the Irish Legal Terms Advisory Committee which validated the terms in the consolidated Rules.

He also congratulated him on his nomination as Chief Justice.

Dr Micheál Ó Cearúil was in charge of the translation and preparation of the Irish text of the Rules for print on behalf of the Department.
