Solicitor appointed to Zappone's youth policy body

Managing solicitor at the Immigrant Council of Ireland Catherine Cosgrave has been appointed to a body bringing together stakeholders in children and young people's policy and provision.

The solicitor was appointed alongside five others to the national advisory council for the Better Outcomes, Brighter Futures policy framework.

Framework

Better Outcomes, Brighter Futures is the first overarching national children's policy framework covering all children and young people up to 24 years old.

It will adopt a whole-of-government approach with constituent strategies in the areas of early years, youth and participation.

Six members

Minister for Children and Youth Affairs Dr Katherine Zappone (pictured above) announced the six new members as Aideen Howard, The Ark, Catherine Cosgrave, Immigrant Council of Ireland, Catherine Maher (formerly Focus Ireland), John Church, Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children, Suzanne Connolly, Barnardos and Olivia McEvoy of EY.

Teresa Heeney of Early Childhood Ireland and Mary Cunningham of the National Youth Council were appointed as vice chairs representing the early years and youth sectors.
