Judgeship vacancy applications thrown open

Vacancies for judgeships have been announced by the Court Service.

Applications are invited from practising barristers and solicitors, under the Courts and Court Officers Acts 1995-2002, for appointment to the following roles:

  • Ordinary Judges of the Supreme Court,
  • Ordinary Judges of the Court of Appeal,
  • Ordinary Judges of the High Court,
  • Ordinary Judges of the Circuit Court,
  • Judges of the District Court.

Those eligible for appointment and who wish to be considered should apply in writing to the Secretary, Judicial Appointments Advisory Board, Phoenix House, 15/24 Phoenix Street North, Smithfield, Dublin 7, for a copy of the relevant application form.

Fully completed applications will then be considered for vacancies that arise in the Supreme Court, Court of Appeal, High Court, Circuit Court and District Court during 2019.

Valid

These applications will only remain valid pending enactment of any new legislation in relation to Judicial Appointments which is expected in 2019, the Courts Service has said.

More information is available at  www.jaab.ie.

The Standards in Public Office Act, 2001, as amended, prohibits the Judicial Appointments Advisory Board from recommendation for judicial office unless that person has a current tax clearance certificate.
