Fintech under microscope at Trinity symposium

The Trinity College School of Law is turning its attention to fintech next week.

The Corporate Law, Governance and Capital Markets group within the school is organising a one-day symposium on the global challenge of developing responsive fintech regulation.

The Friday 8 March symposium, organised in conjunction with the Frankfurt-based European Banking Institute, will examine fintech’s regulatory challenges.

Professor Blanaid Clarke, McCann FitzGerald Chair of Corporate Law at Trinity and EBI academic board member, will chair the session on regulatory approaches.

Blockchain

Cryptocurrencies, blockchain technology, smart contracts, robo-advisors and initial coin offerings are all on the agenda.

The evolving field of fintech throws up investor protection and financial stability risks as regulators devise the optimal response and attempt to address challenges without stifling innovation.

The day-long symposium begins 9am at Trinity Long Room Hub.
