Council Elections

Nominations have opened for the 2021 Council Election.

By joining the Law Society of Ireland Council, you can play an important role in shaping and developing the future of the solicitors’ profession.

The Council governs the Law Society and comprises 31 elected members, four provincial delegates and 13 nominated members. At least eight Council meetings are held annually. Meetings discuss a variety of matters important to the profession including reports from committees, working groups and task forces, and selecting Society representatives.

Nomination forms and important dates - 2021/22

The closing date for candidates’ nominations for the 2021 election is Monday 13 September 2021 at 5:00 pm. Candidates must be nominated by two members, and one member cannot nominate more than two candidates.

Close of poll for the election to Council is Thursday 28 October 2021 at 5:00 pm, with the election count due to take place on Friday 29 October 2021. Successfully elected candidates serve for a two-year period.
