The Society is aware that the email account of Rosemary Scallan and Company has been hacked and that fraudulent emails have issued from it.

The emails were sent to a number of different recipients and the body of the email maintained it related to the cancellation of a contract. It also asked the recipient to click on an attachment and enter login details thereafter.

The Society advises solicitors and the public not to click on the attachment or enter any details if you received the email. The Society also reminds solicitors to be cautious of clinking on any link or opening any attachment from an unexpected or unsolicited email and if unsure, to contact the sender directly by phone to verify.
