Urgent notice: Common Law Motions

24/06/2020 13:07:26

Motions originally listed for hearing in the Common Law List on 16 March 2020 will now be heard over four days on the week commencing Monday 29 June 2020.

In order to comply with social distancing requirements, these motions have been assigned staggered times. Practitioners should check the list published in the Legal Diary on the Courts Service Website in this regard. Parties must attend at their given time slot as there will be no provision for a second calling of the list as social distancing requirements have to be adhered to at all times.

Where one of the parties involved in a motion is a lay litigant, the solicitors on record for the other party are required to inform the lay litigant of the hearing date and time.

On the day, parties are requested to advise the Court of any Motion the hearing of which is likely to exceed 15 minutes. A book of pleadings will be required on the day to hand up to the Judge.

When an Order for Discovery is granted, a copy of the Motion on which the Order for discovery was granted must be e-mailed in WORD format (not PDF format) to the Registrar sitting in the relevant list.

Motions originally listed for 23 and 30 March 2020 and for 20 April 2020 are likely to be listed for early to mid- July and it is recommended that practitioners check the Legal Diary for updates in this regard.
