Solicitors are invited to the 2017 Street Law orientation weekend this September.

About Street Law

Street Law is a legal literacy programme that aims to develop a belief in the rule of law, and has a social justice ethic at its core. During Street Law programmes, run the by Law Society Diploma Centre, PPC trainees learn how to teach about law, the legal system, human rights and democracy.

Initial orientation training weekend

This year, the Diploma Centre is inviting a limited number of practitioners to join an interactive and fun orientation weekend, giving them the skills to introduce and support a Street Law programme in community settings and school classrooms.

The orientation will take place from the evening of Friday 15 September 2017 and all day on Saturday and Sunday 16 - 17 September 2017.

Topics covered include:

  1. The scope, design and implementation of a Street Law programme.
  2. How to design an effective lesson.
  3. Examples of learner centred legal activities.
  4. Facilitating group work.
  5. Demonstration teaching.
