The Probate, Administration & Trusts Committee has been informed that a new Probate Fees Order is due to come into effect on 1 March next for applications for Grants of Representation.  While the SI has not yet been signed, the Committee is informed that it has been approved by all parties concerned.

In particular, instead of having 41 different fees to be charged where the Net Estate was between €75,000 and €1,000,000, the new fee structure will only have five:

• under €100,000,
• between €100,000 and under €250,000,
• from €250,000 to under €500,000,
• from €500,000 to under €750,000, and
• from €750,000 to €1,000,000.

For estates over €1,000,000, the fees will increase by €400 for every €500,000 or fraction thereof.

As soon as this draft SI has been signed and published, a copy will be made available on the Law Society website.
