  • A May Gazette article explores recent European case law on taking preparatory steps in mergers and acquisitions. Case C-633/16, Ernst & Young P/S v Konkurrencerådet, marks the first time that the Court of Justice of the European Union has been called upon to rule on the scope of the ‘standstill obligation’ in article 7(1) of the European Union Merger Regulation (EUMR).   • The Employment & Equality Law Committee has produced an updated suite of precedent employment and equality law documentation. Documents available include precedent mediation agreements, sample policies, and guidelines for issues such as performance management or recruitment selection.   • If you are interested in hiring an FE-1 student or trainee, you can find useful information and relevant forms on the Society’s website. Get information on hiring a trainee
  • The Library has a vast collection of precedents in databases and in printed sources. These include many documents relevant to in-house practice, such as merchandising rights agreements, venue hire agreements, and a grant of rights to operate as a franchise. See precedents from the library

Training

The Diploma Centre and Law Society Professional Training provide training for in-house solicitors in the private and public sectors.

  • Two intensive Law Society Finuas Skillnet Programmes focus on commercial contracts, and technology/IP law. The Fundamentals of Commercial Contracts, starting on 14 September, is designed to equip participants with the necessary skills, knowledge and competencies to draft commercial agreements and to advise on the impact of various commercial arrangements on day-to-day business. The Fundamentals of Tech and IP Law, starting on 23 November, focuses on the law relating to technology and intellectual property law and its consequential impact on day-to-day business.
