A happy and health workforce has many benefits. It brings better employee engagement, retention, and recruitment, and an enhanced client experience. It also results in higher employee performance, creativity, and productivity and decreased sickness and absenteeism. All of this can help reduce your workplace business costs and increase profit margins.

Why Sign the Professional Wellbeing Charter?

The Law Society’s Professional Wellbeing Charter is a formal way for solicitors’ workplaces to publicly show their commitment to improving leadership and championing behaviours, skills and practices that promote and enable professional wellbeing at all levels, and across all roles.

Signatories to this Charter commit to creating a positive workplace culture, building an environment where leaders promote professional wellbeing and protect employees’ mental health, reducing stigma associated with mental health, striving for realistic work-life/balance for employees, and ensuring policies and procedures to safeguard employee’s psychological safety and mental health are in place.

To date, over 50 solicitor firms, practices, sole practitioners and those working in the in-house and public sector have signed the Professional Wellbeing Charter. This signatory list is published and updated regularly on the Law Society website

Solicitors’ workplaces who have signed this Charter are encouraged to use the Charter’s exclusive insignia. The insignia can be used on firm stationery, websites, business cards and other marketing materials to publicly promote commitment to the Charter and can help inform future employees, clients and colleagues that your firm takes professional wellbeing very seriously and is striving to develop this in your workplace.
