The Department of Justice has published its Strategy Statement 2021-2023 and Action Plan for 2021.

Agreed actions

The Statement identifies a range of strategic goals under the five headings of tackling crime, improving access to justice, community safety, immigration reform and innovation.

The Plan includes 240 specific actions for 2021, including:

  • centralisation and automation of court offices and processes through the publication of the Court and Civil Law Miscellaneous Provision Bill
  • the coming into operation of the new Legal Practitioners’ Disciplinary Tribunal
  • the introduction of new legal partnerships enabling barristers and solicitors to jointly provide legal services
  • progression of the Family Court Bill, and
  • establishment of a Judicial Appointments Commission.

Policy and law reform engagement
