Training opportunities

The Law Society offers specialist training tailored to the needs of in-house solicitors. Upcoming events include:

  • The annual In-house and Public Sector Panel Discussion will take place on 4 May 2017. Hosted by the In-house and Public Sector Committee in partnership with Law Society Professional Training, this panel discussion will cover practical issues of  setting up and managing an in-house legal function.   • The Certificate in Strategic Development for In-House Practice will commence on 13 October 2017. This course has been designed for general counsel and in-house counsel who wish to contribute to the growth and direction of their organisation through the development of their in-house practice. Law Society committees publish guidance covering a diverse range of issues, from technology and data protection to business law. You can search access a large archive of this information on the Law Society website.

Law Society Career Support offers one-to-one consultations and a wide range of online advice, from performing well in job interviews to working in other jurisdictions.

External events

In-house solicitors may be particularly interested in certain events organised by external bodies.

  • The annual ICSA Ireland Conference will take place on 23 May at Dublin's Ballsbridge Hotel. The Conference is the largest annual event for company secretaries and governance professionals in Ireland. Find out more about ICSA Ireland Conference.
