Shaping a Greener Future

Participants can register now for the 2021 Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) offered by the Law Society Diploma Centre.

This year's course will provide participants with a comprehensive guide to the key legal and ethical issues affecting the environment and climate. Topics include:

  • Climate change (international/EU/national obligations),
  • Climate Action and Low Carbon Development (Amendment) Bill 2021,
  • Climate justice and environmental enforcement,
  • Circular economy,
  • Green finance,
  • Fast fashion,
  • Plastics,
  • Renewable energy, and
  • Biodiversity, sustainability, ecocide and green crime.

The course will run over 5 weeks, with short recorded online video releases, participation in an online course forum and quizzes.

The MOOC is delivered through a separate login system to lawsociety.ie - participants will need to register an account on this system to access course content. If you have any queries, contact the Diploma MOOC team.

What is a MOOC?

A MOOC is a free online course that is open to all and specifically designed for large numbers to participate. To date, the Diploma Centre’s MOOCs have attracted over 12,000 participants from over 70 countries since they first launched in 2014. Such courses feature online recorded and streamed presentations, together with interactive discussion forums that allow participants to engage directly with our expert presenters.
