FAQ Justice Media Awards

  • Broadcast time markers: Can I send my whole documentary, series or podcast? Yes, you can send us a link or file to your full documentary, series, podcast or show etc. Please indicate the 20 minutes of most important footage in your entry form. If this is not specified, the first 20 minutes will be judged.
  • How many times can I enter the awards? Entry to the Justice Media Awards is free but there is a maximum of three entries per person or team in each category.
  • How many articles, audio clips or files can I include in an entry? When entering more than one piece of work in an entry, please highlight the most important piece and number each piece of content thereafter by priority to be judged to a maximum of five pieces of content.
  • Can I send a link of my work? Yes, you can share a link to your online entry or broadcast piece. However, please share a PDF, audio or video file of your article alongside the website link if the link is behind a paywall or if the link may become unavailable at a later date. 
  • I am no longer a student; can I submit work that I had published as a student last year? Yes, entries are accepted in the Student Journalism category from people that were students at the time of publication during the applicable period. Unfortunately, we cannot accept entries from work published or broadcast outside 1 March 2021-28 February 2022. Please read the small small print or more information.
  • I think my entry could fit into two different categories. Where should I put it? Sometimes an article or broadcast piece might fit the criteria for two categories, for example, Court Reporting or Print/online journalism (daily). You may enter the same entry into two categories or you can choose which category you think your entry would be most competitive in.
  • I had an article/broadcast piece published/aired just outside the entry dates; can I still enter this piece? Unfortunately, we cannot accept entries from outside 1 March 2021-28 February 2022. If you include these pieces in your entry, they will not be judged. Please read the small print for more information.
  • I forgot to include information on my entry form, can I edit it? We check each entry form and all details included in each submission. If we think there is something missing we will contact you. If you want to send updated form details, please get in touch at awards@lawsociety.ie.
