Aim and Objectives
The primary objective of BrexED Talks is to equip solicitors with the knowledge and skills to navigate the post Brexit landscape. This will be achieved through a series of inspiring talks from legal and political experts delivering a comprehensive analysis of the relevant changes for legal practice and law. 

The most immediate changes that impact on all solicitors will be addressed in the first four lectures, all of which are available now. These include an overall assessment of what Brexit will mean for legal practitioners, changes in criminal law, family and child law and in-house practice. An initial eight lectures will be released between 15 December 2020 and 31 March 2021. Additional sessions will be added as new legal changes arise. 

Session 1 Criminal Law – A Panel Discussion on the Impact of Brexit

Session 2 Preparing for Brexit – an In-House Legal Perspective

Conor Keeling, Head of AIB Corporate, Institutional and Business Banking Legal and Geraldine Buckley, Treasury Solicitor, AIB give an overview of AIB’s preparation for Brexit from the perspective of its in-house lawyers,including a more detailed look at the preparations of the Bank’s Treasury function.

• Mobilising the Bank’s Brexit preparations – structures & governance, information gathering, etc.
• The key challenges – regulatory permissions, data protection, treasury
• Looking to the future – dealing with new reality of EU-UK relations, future direction of financial regulation without UK as a member state
• Impact of Brexit on the Treasury function – considering some of the key risks and contingency measures taken to prepare.

Session 4 Family and Child Law – The Brexit Divorce and its Impact for Family and Child Law Cases
