Council Elections

As a member of the Law Society of Ireland, have you considered running for the Council?

By joining the Law Society of Ireland Council, you can play an important role in shaping and developing the future of the solicitors’ profession.

The Council governs the Law Society and comprises 31 elected members, four provincial delegates and 13 nominated members. At least eight Council meetings are held annually. Meetings discuss a variety of matters important to the profession including reports from committees, working groups and task forces, and selecting Society representatives.

Nomination forms and important dates - 2018/19

Candidates must be nominated by two members, and one member cannot nominate more than two candidates. The closing date for candidates’ nominations for the 2018 election has passed.


Voting has closed and candidates for the 2018/19 Council have been elected. Successfully elected candidates serve for a two-year period.
