Course overview

The course will provide in-depth and practical knowledge of personal insolvency in Ireland.  Students will acquire a detailed knowledge of the Personal Insolvency Act 2012 and the practice and procedures that have evolved since the introduction of the legislation. They will develop a rounded understanding of the role of the Personal Insolvency Practitioner that will allow them to deal with all aspects of the insolvency process to include:

  • assessing financial and legal documentation;
  • communicating and negotiating with creditors and banking institutions;
  • correctly advising clients in relation to their situation;
  • dealing with distressed and vulnerable clients;
  • engaging with parties in the insolvency process to include the Courts Service of Ireland and the Insolvency Service of Ireland;
  • implementing appropriate financial arrangements for clients.

This course is suitable for the following:

  • Qualified solicitors and barristers;
  • Qualified accountants; 
  • Qualified financial advisors; 
  • Other suitably qualified professionals who hold a qualification in law, business, finance.

We welcome applications for this course from suitably qualified non-members. Please explain your interest and set out any relevant experience in a cover letter and a brief CV. Such applications are subject to a supplemental fee of €300.
