Common Law Motions - Update
24.02.2010

Petitioners will be aware from High Court Practice Direction No. 23 entitled "Common Law Motion List" that the Court needs to be advised of any Motion which is likely to take longer than 15 minutes to be heard.

Motions in this category are usually either put to the back of the list to be dealt with in the afternoon, or go into the non-jury list to fix dates.

Practitioners should note that with effect from 15th February, 2010, application may now be made to the Court to have the Motion put into a new list on Tuesdays or Wednesdays.

These Motions will be heard on the above days before Mr Justice Lavan or such other Judge as may be assigned by the President of the High Court.

It is anticipated that this will speed up the entire process for long Motions.
